Renowned artist Frank Nulf, who taught Visual Arts at the University of Regina for nearly twenty years, and served as Dean of Fine Arts, died February 24th, in Sydenham, Ontario, at age 84.
Nulf was born in Lima, Ohio in 1931, and achieved degrees in Science, Arts and Fine Arts at different American universities before moving to Regina, Saskatchewan in 1969 to serve as Dean of Fine Arts at the U of R. He continued teaching there until moving to Sydenham, Ontario in 1988.
Nulf worked in a variety of mediums, from oils and watercolours to drawing and printmaking. He received awards from the Canada Council, and won a Fulbright Award in Painting in 1962.
Frank Nulf’s work has been exhibited in the United States and Canada since the late 1950s, and can be found in the permanent collections of the Art Gallery of Toronto, MacKenzie Art Gallery (Regina), Saskatchewan Arts Board, University of Regina, University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon), Winnipeg Art Gallery, Memorial University Art Gallery (St. John’s), Michigan University and State University of New York.
