Andrew King's history has all the makings of a small-time success story. First in Rouleau, Saskatchewan, and subsequently out of Estevan, King fashioned a printing enterprise that reached out across an entire continent.

Despite the existence of other, more advanced printing technologies, King produced his posters from wood blocks. Robert Stacey suggests in his catalogue essay that it is in this process that art, economics and geography align, and that regional and social questions are brought into play.
