The Qu’Appelle Opera House - Image 1

Housing the town offices, fire brigade, police and an auditorium that made it the centre of the town’s social life, the Qu’Appelle Opera house was an early 20th Century symbol of small town Saskatchewan optimism.

Season 1, Episode 12 - 2007 - 29 minutes. Includes additional interviews and material.

However, stricter fire codes closed the auditorium and a dwindling population makes it a struggle to keep the rest of the building open.  But Qu’Appelle is attracting new families and sparking a dream of refurbishing the Town Hall Opera House so music and laughter may once again fill the auditorium.

EDIFICE & US is a documentary series that explores the relationships between architecture, people and our cultural heritage.
